How it began - Funtrain classes are for pre-school children based in Kent with classes held at Cranbrook, Staplehurst, Tenterden, Biddenden and Headcorn.

My daughter who is now 19 was born with a rare chromosome abnormality. She was developmentally delayed and had serious behavioural problems. I was given great help and guidance from an amazing behavioural specialist (John Bird) who showed me how to develop positive behaviour. Over the next ten years I attended every course and seminar I could to help my daughter’s development and gained a real insight into how young minds work and the best ways to develop them . When I started attending pre-school classes with my son three years later I felt really disappointed with what was out there. Many classes seemed to be run by teachers who had very high expectations of one year olds! I had on occasions felt a little intimated and often very bored! So I decided to develop classes using all the fantastic knowledge I had gained from the speech and language specialists and above all John Bird, the expert on behaviour. It is really important for the parents and carers to feel good about their children. I never forget how vulnerable new parents are. If you go to a class and your little one is too shy to join in the last thing you need is to feel worried or embarrassed about it. Positive reinforcement is the key to developing positive behaviour.
